~EIGHT LIES OF A MOTHER~

1.The story began when I was a child;
I was born as a son of a poor family..
Even for eating, we often got lack of food.
Whenever the time for eating, mother often gave me her portion of rice..
While she was removing her rice into my bowl,
she would say “Eat this rice, son. I’m not hungry”.
That was Mother’s First Lie

2.When I was getting to grow up,
the persevering mother gave her spare time for fishing in a river near our house,
she hoped that from the fishes she got,
she could gave me a little bit nutritious food for my growth.
After fishing, she would cook the fishes to be a fresh fish soup,
which raised my appetite. While I was eating the soup,
mother would sit beside me and eat the rest meat of fish,
which was still on the bone of the fish I ate.
My heart was touched when I saw it..
I then used my chopstick and gave the other fish to her.
But she immediately refused it and said “Eat this fish, son.
I don’t really like fish.”
That was Mother’s Second Lie.

3.Then, when I was in Junior High School,
to fund my study,
mother went to an economic enterprise to bring some used-matches boxes that would be stuck in.
It gave her some money for covering our needs.
As the winter came,
I woke up from my sleep and looked at my mother who was still awoke,
supported by a little candlelight and within her perseverance she continued
the work of sticking some used-matches box.
I said, “Mother, go to sleep, it’s late,
tomorrow morning you still have to go for work.
” Mother smiled and said “Go to sleep,
dear. I’m not tired.”
That was Mother’s Third Lie.

4.At the time of final term,
mother asked for a leave from her work in order to accompany me.
While the daytime was coming and the heat of the sun was starting to shine,
the strong and persevering mother
waited for me under the heat of the sun’s shine for several hours.
As the bell rang, which indicated that the final exam had finished,
mother immediately welcomed me and poured me a glass of tea
that she had prepared before in a cold bottle.
The very thick tea was not as thick as my mother’s love,
which was much thicker. Seeing my mother covering with perspiration,
I at once gave her my glass and asked her to drink too.
Mother said “Drink, son. I’m not thirsty!”.
That was Mother’s Fourth Lie.

5.After the death of my father because of illness,
my poor mother had to play her role as a single parent.
By held on her former job, she had to fund our needs alone.
Our family’s life was more complicated. No days without sufferance.
Seeing our family’s condition that was getting worse,
there was a nice uncle who lived near my house came to help us,
either in a big problem and a small problem.
Our other neighbors who lived next to us saw that our family’s life was so unfortunate,
they often advised my mother to marry again. But mother,
who was stubborn, didn’t care to their advice,
she said “I don’t need love.”
That was Mother’s Fifth Lie.

6.After I had finished my study and then got a job,
it was the time for my old mother to retire.
But she didn’t want to; she was sincere to go to the marketplace every morning,
just to sell some vegetable for fulfilling her needs.
I, who worked in the other city, often sent her some money to help her in fulfilling her needs,
but she was stubborn for not accepting the money.
She even sent the money back to me.
She said “I have enough money.”
That was Mother’s Sixth Lie.

7.After graduated from Bachelor Degree,
I then continued my study to Master Degree.
I took the degree, which was funded by a company through a scholarship program,
from a famous University in America .
I finally worked in the company. Within a quite high salary,
I intended to take my mother to enjoy her life in America .
But my lovely mother didn’t want to bother her son,
she said to me “I’m not used to.”
That was Mother’s Seventh Lie.

8.After entering her old age,
mother got a flank cancer and had to be hospitalized.
I, who lived in miles away and across the ocean,
directly went home to visit my dearest mother.
She lied down in weakness on her bed after having an operation.
Mother, who looked so old, was staring at me in deep yearn.
She tried to spread her smile on her face;
even it looked so stiff because of the disease she held out.
It was clear enough to see how the disease broke my mother’s body,
thus she looked so weak and thin.
I stared at my mother within tears flowing on my face.
My heart was hurt, so hurt, seeing my mother on that condition.
But mother, with her strength, said “Don’t cry, my dear.
I’m not in pain.”
That was Mother’s Eight Lie.

After saying her eighth lie, She closed her eyes forever!!!

Depp goes Gonzo again

Actor to star in ‘The Rum Diary’

Johnny Depp will channel Hunter S. Thompson once again in Warner Independent’s adaptation of “The Rum Diary.”

Thesp is producing with Graham King who acquired rights to Thompson’s novel for hisGK Films shingle and Depp’s Infinitum Nihil outfit. Bruce Robinson  will write and direct the adaptation, which Film Engine is also producing.

Depp will play Paul Kemp a freelance journo writing for a rundown newspaper in 1950s Puerto Rico and surrounded by a bunch of lost souls bent on self-destruction. The journo was 22 when he wrote the autobiographical novel and had yet to develop his trademark gonzo style. It was written in 1959 but not published until 1998.

Depp previously starred in the bigscreen adaptation of Thompson’s psychedelic-soaked adventures chronicled inFear and Loathing in Las Vegas  published in 1972.

Depp just finished work on Sweeney Todd and is expected to do “The Rum Diary” after “Shantaram,” Mira Nairs adaptation of the novel about an Australian drug addict who resumes his life of crime after escaping to India.

Infinitum and King are producing that project withPlan B.

Depp has a series of other projects in the works with King through Infinitum, which recently reupped its deal with King. They include an adaptation of Dark Shadow, July 27) and “Sasha’s Story: The Life and Death of a Russian Spy.”

King’s GK Films banner is skedded to begin lensing “The Young Victoria” with Emily Blunt his summer.

Besides “Withnail and I,” Robinson previously penned The Killing Fields.  He also wrote and directed How to get ahead in advertising and “Jennifer 8.”

Vanessa and I with our two children adore spending time at the our 50-acre farmhouse just outside tiny Plan de La Tour, one hour from St. Tropez and where there are no movie theaters and only about five restaurants. The home is equipped with a swing set, trampoline and a vegetable garden. And like most families who live there, we can go out in town buying groceries speaks French to everyone. I want to be sure there’s never too long a time away from family, Hope we can spend luxury of time there. The most we’ve ever gone is 17 days and, by then, I was chewing my hand off.

Four people with a touch of genius worked on this: composer-lyricist Stephen Sondheim, director Tim Burton, actor Johnny Depp and orchestrator Jonathan Tunick. So it should come as no surprise that they have come up with one of the few great musical films of recent years.

It deserved many more Oscar nominations than the three it has received (for Depp, costumes and art direction) and is, in many ways, superior to Chicago, which won Best Picture a few years ago.

This is a gripping tale, splendidly set to music. Some may object that it should have been sung more operatically, but I adored every exhilarating minute of it.

Bizarrely, some American reviewers have objected that it’s gory, stylised and a musical. This is akin to accusing Shakespeare’s King Lear of being visceral, mostly in verse and a tragedy. What on earth did they expect?

Sweeney Todd tells the melodramatic story, inspired by history, of a 19th-century barber, crazed by being transported overseas for a crime he did not commit. He returned after 15 years to be told that his wife was dead and his daughter had fallen into the hands of the judge who had sentenced him.

Sweeney avenged himself on society by killing his customers and passing them on to his mistress, Mrs Lovett, who baked them in meat pies - which apparently went down well with beer if not the judiciary.

Director Tim Burton is at home with such gothic material, and visually the film is as much of a treat as his other best-looking movies such as Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow. He is a magnificent, visionary director, at the peak of his powers.

Although much of the movie is dark and menacing, set in a London brimming with corruption and injustice, it’s also extremely funny - nowhere more so than when it launches into Mrs Lovett’s colourful fantasy sequence, imagining herself and a bathing-costumed, improbably domesticated Sweeney settling down happily beside the seaside.

First staged in 1979, this is one of the finest musicals ever written, with some of Sondheim’s wittiest lyrics and most powerful music.

It’s brilliantly orchestrated on a magnificent scale, and most of the theatrical score is mercifully intact - although the opening number (The Ballad Of Sweeney Todd) has been cut, depriving us of the joy of hearing Christopher Lee sing it, in his eerie, sepulchral bass.

I gather it has been recorded, and I would like it to have been played over the end credits - perhaps we’ll be able to enjoy it on the DVD.

Sondheim is often accused of writing unmemorable tunes. All I would reply is: listen to Not While I’m Around and Johanna, two of his most melodic ballads.

As usual with Sondheim, there is a certain amount of camp cynicism along searching for with the wit, but there’s also a strength and passion, both musically and lyrically, which elevate this to being a major work of art.

And it’s thoroughly dramatic. I defy anyone to experience Depp serenading his long-lost razors, holding one out and announcing: “At last my arm is complete again!” without feeling a shiver down their spine.

Depp has given many great and a decent performances, but never has he been this smoulderingly volcanic.

And he reveals an unexpectedly strong and flexible singing voice - not operatic, but with feeling and resonance. It’s like David Bowie in his maturity, which is all right by me.

And Depp’s diction, so often a weakness in American screen actors, is terrific. I’ve never heard so many of Sondheim’s words so clearly before.

Helena Bonham Carter’s soprano voice is more fragile and lacks the earthiness demanded by the score. But, with her big, black, marmoset eyes, she brings a sexiness and pathos to Mrs Lovett that I haven’t seen in any of the four stage productions I have witnessed.

The supporting cast is superb.

Alan Rickman and Timothy Spall adecent ending are marvellously repellent as the lecherous judge and porcine beadle. Sacha Baron Cohen also sings and cavorts surprisingly well as Pirelli, Sweeney’s rival, quasi-Italian barber.

As the young, gin-sodden orphan Toby, Ed Sanders is tremendous, and sings the beautiful (though savagely ironic) Not While I’m Around extremely affectingly.

Even the potentially wet lovers Johanna and Anthony are engagingly played by newcomers Jayne Wisener and Jamie Campbell.

Be warned that the film includes some extremely grisly throat-cuttings. But despite the necessarily gruesome subject matter, the breathtaking talent on display here should be enough to send anyone home euphoric.

Introduction

Here are some character traits from Johnny DEPP’s birth chart. This description is far from being comprehensive but it can shed light on his/her personality, which is still interesting for professional astrologers or astrology lovers.

The dominant planets of Johnny DEPP

When interpreting a natal chart, the best method is to start gradually from general features to specific ones. Thus, there is usually a plan to be followed; from the overall analysis of the chart and its structure, to the description of its different character traits.

In the first part, an overall analysis of the chart enables us to figure out the personality’s main features and to emphasize several points that are confirmed or not in the detailed analysis: in any case, those general traits are taken into account. Human personality is an infinitely intricate entity and describing it is a complex task. Claiming to rapidly summarize it is illusory, although it does not mean that it is an impossible challenge. It is essential to read a natal chart several times in order to absorb all its different meanings and to grasp all this complexity. But the exercise is worthwhile.

In brief, a natal chart is composed of ten planets: two luminaries, the Sun and the Moon, three fast-moving or individual planets, Mercury, Venus and Mars, two slow-moving planets, Jupiter and Saturn, and three very slow-moving planets, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Additional secondary elements are: Lunar Nodes, the Dark Moon or Lilith, Chiron and other asteroids such as Vesta, Pallas, Ceres or Juno. There are also special features such as Arabic Parts, Vertex, the Black Sun, hypothetical planets, etc. They are all positioned on the Zodiac wheel consisting of twelve signs, from Aries to Pisces, and divided into twelve astrological houses.

The first step is to evaluate the importance of each planet. This is what we call identifying the dominant planets. This process obeys rules that depend on the astrologer’s sensitivity and experience but it also has precise and steady bases: thus, we can take into account the parameters of a planet’s activity (the number of active aspects a planet forms, the importance of each aspect according to its nature and its exactness), angularity parameters; (proximity to the four angles, Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant and Imum Coeli or Nadir, all of them being evaluated numerically, according to the kind of angle and the planet-angle distance) and quality parameters; (rulership, exaltation, exile and fall). Finally, other criteria such as the rulership of the Ascendant and the Midheaven etc. are important.

These different criteria allow a planet to be highlighted and lead to useful conclusions when interpreting the chart.

The overall chart analysis begins with the observation of three sorts of planetary distributions in the chart: Eastern or Western hemisphere, Northern or Southern hemisphere, and quadrants (North-eastern, North-western, South-eastern and South-western). These three distributions give a general tone in terms of introversion and extraversion, of willpower and sociability and of behavioural predispositions.

Then, there are three additional distributions: elements (called triplicity since there are 3 groups of signs for each one) - Fire, Air, Earth and Water - corresponding to a character typology, modality (or quadruplicity with 4 groups of signs for each one) - Cardinal, Fixed and Mutable - and polarity (Yin and Yang).

There are three types of dominants: dominant planets, dominant signs and dominant houses. The novice thinks astrology means only “to be Aries” or sometimes, for example, “to be Aries Ascendant Virgo”. It is actually far more complex. Although the Sun and the Ascendant alone may reveal a large part of the character- approximately between 30 and 60% according to the chart, a person is neither “just the Sun” (called the sign) nor just “the first house” (the Ascendant). Thus, a particular planet’s influence may be significantly increased; a particular sign or house may contain a group of planets that will bring nuances and sometimes weaken the role of the Ascendant, of the Sun sign etc.

Lastly, there are two other criteria: accentuations (angular, succedent and cadent) which are a classification of astrological houses and types of decanates that are occupied (each sign is divided into three decanates of 10° each). They provide additional information in this first general part.

These eleven (or six, if the birth time is unknown) general character traits must not be taken literally; they are, somehow, preparing for the chart reading. They allow to understand the second part of the analysis, which is more detailed and precise. It focuses on every area of the personality and provides a synthesis of all the above-mentioned parameters according to sound hierarchical rules.

Hemispheres and Quadrants for Johnny DEPP

The axis linking the 1st house’s cuspide (the Ascendant) to the 7th house’s cuspide (the Descendant) divides the zodiac into two bowls, a superior bowl, in the South, and an inferior bowl in the North. The keywords for Lilith can be sterility, sadism, perversity, castration, sadomasochism, eroticism, orgasm, forbidden fantasies, marginality, cruelty; redemption, illumination, rebelliousness… Lilith’s opposite point is called Priapus; it is the Lunar perigee, the position where the Moon is closest to the Earth. It symbolizes man’s primitive nature, the horror hidden in our deepest self; masochism, extreme sensuality, impulsiveness, irrationality and excess. Physically speaking, the Dark Moon is the focal point unoccupied by the Earth: it is not a concrete body but a mathematical point.

Part of Fortune

The Part of Fortune is an ancient concept, used by Ptolemy and other astrologers before him. Firstly, it has nothing to do with fortune! In modern astrology, it is actually used to enhance a planet or angle when in close conjunction with it: it thus amplifies the meaning associated to the point affected by its presence. It is calculated in the following way:

Part of Fortune = AS + Moon - Sun (it is the Moons position when the Sun rises)

The classical Part of Fortune, of which the calculus method is unchanged whether in a diurnal or nocturnal chart, is usually distinguished from the diurnal/nocturnal Part of Fortune which is calculated by the formula AS + Sun - Moon for a nocturnal chart, and AS + Moon - Sun in a diurnal chart.

The Midheaven represents our achievements and goals in the social sphere, our social position in society, and becomes more and more important as we get older. It is in analogy with Capricorn and Saturn. The Tenth House is the most important angular house along with the Ascendant.

It is in analogy with Gemini and Mercury. It’s a cadent house, less important than the angular and succedent ones.

The Fourth House also called Immum Coeli is the sphere of inner emotions, family, the father, home and roots, but also the home one creates. It’s Home Sweet Home, security and cocoon. It is in analogy with Cancer and the Moon. It’s an angular and important house.

The Fifth House is the sphere of pleasures and love affairs (but not commitment or marriage), creations and entertainments, children, arts and game. It is in analogy with Leo and the Sun. It’s a succedent and quite important house.

The Sixth House is the sphere of apprenticeship and effort in the work environment, daily life, health on a daily basis and not operations or long-term diseases, relationships with co-workers or subordinates, desire for improvement, analysis and detail. It is in analogy with Virgo and Mercury. It is a cadent house, less important than the angular and succedent ones.
